Mads Langer - Last Flower

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es5RxLYHlKw&feature=related

This touches something really deep in my heart that I can't explain. The cynical part of me says maybe my head's just in the clouds for the few minutes this song is playing, but I really want to be the kind of woman a song like this is written for. It's not that I expect some kind of musical poetry one day. I just hope that I can inspire this kind of love and emotion...even if he can't put words or music to it. But you know, I'll settle for a southern guy who uses correct grammar. :)

Matt & Kim - Daylight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZt1i1ruK34

First of all, I think "Daylight" would be more appropriately titled as "Me and my friends create a phat beat while on crack." However, because of the infectious smiling and upbeat attitude in the video, I can't help but feel awesome when I hear it! This would be one of those jems I discovered via podcast. I listened to it (at least 10 times) as I was driving down to the beach on Friday morning. Despite the fact that it was only 50 degrees, I rolled my windows down and got the chance to enjoy some much needed sunshine and fresh air.

Rachael Yamagata - Worn Me Down

This song has been on repeat for a couple of days now. Turns out it's got a perfect anti-studying vibe that proves rather distracting so I had to put it away yesterday afternoon. However, I made it through midterms this week even though it was a rough one. My first reward for finishing my eight page marketing test was to crank this up and dance around my kitchen....because who hasn't felt like they were on public display at some point? Makes me want to buy a hippie skirt and glass box, let my hair grow wild, and become a folk singer in Mexico. Kind of. Wellll, maybe South Carolina.

Joy Williams - One of Those Days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynyA6qPjUpo&feature=related

One sweet little tune with the power to turn "it's been a bad day cynicism" into smiling, bergudging optimism. A few strong amaretto sours with a twisty straw never hurt either.

V.v. Brown & The Heavy

Well, the last time I posted was in September.
I suppose I'm changing that now.

The two songs below caught my ear just before my birthday earlier this month. They've been on a few different mixes I've made since then. Pretty versatile lyrics and a contagious driving sound. I just can't get enough! I may have given up Starbucks for lent this year, but these are waking me up just fine.
